One possible solution is to close off the South bound lane (West side of street) during morning student commute hours and allow biking in the street with a 3 foot buffer between bicyclists and cars. This limits car traffic to one lane of Northbound traffic and gives bicyclists a wide street on which all levels of cyclist can easily and safely use. The area closest to the cars can be used for advanced cyclists and the lane closest to the sidewalk used by slower cyclists. Narrow dashed white lines could be used to mark the buffer area for bikers. Reverse the process in the afternoon.
